Introducing our new private pilates sessions
Coordination of body, mind and spirit - - - throughout your pregnancy and postpartum journey.
Pilates, also known as Contrology, is the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit. It aims to develop the body uniformly, correct posture, restore physical vitality, invigorate the mind, and lift the spirit (Pilates, 1945). With an emphasis on breath work and pelvic floor function, exercises will be modified to support you at whatever stage you are at along your pregnancy or postpartum journey.
These sessions draw on principles of physical therapy and movement science, which enhance the practice’s effectiveness and accessibility. Each session is 1:1 and tailored to your specific needs and goals, sessions are 50 minutes long and have a strict 24 hour cancellation policy.

Prenatal/Postpartum Pilates Instructor and Corrective Exercise Specialist
Mariela Dorado (she/her)
Hi! My name is Mariela. I'm a Pilates instructor specializing in prenatal and postpartum corrective exercise and pelvic floor dysfunction. I believe we all deserve to experience a sense of well-being in our incredibly adaptive bodies. I'm passionate about fostering this through personalized movement that enhances the mind-body connection and creates a balanced system of strong, flexible muscles. My goal is to help you develop and maintain healthy movement patterns in a nurturing and joyful environment.
At the age of 10, I began struggling with debilitating cramps during menstruation and ovulation. This eventually led to a hypertonic pelvic floor and issues such as sciatic pain, hip discomfort, and challenges with intimacy. Seventeen years later, I was diagnosed with bladder endometriosis through laparoscopic surgery and referred to pelvic floor therapy. Thanks to the tools I learned in therapy, along with my own movement practice, my pain levels significantly decreased, and my quality of life greatly improved. Now, I'm eager to support others on similar journeys toward healing.

I graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. That same year, I received my Pilates Certification from Polestar Pilates, which culminated in a teaching internship in Madrid, Spain. I later completed courses in Pilates for Neurological Conditions, Exercises for Osteoporosis and Bone Health, and Pre-Postnatal Pilates. Additionally, I am a certified Advocate for Social Justice through the Harriet Tubman Effect Institute, and I am committed to offering Pilates sessions that are size-inclusive, culturally competent, and trauma-informed. I've taught Pilates and dance in a diverse range of settings, including physical therapy clinics, hospitals, public schools, and institutions such as Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center.
Alongside my teaching career, I've worked as a performing artist, with my favorite credits including the Broadway national tour of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and 20th Century Studios' West Side Story. These experiences have infused my teaching style with energy, cheer, and a strong sense of community.
Change happens through movement, and movement heals.
